Chizik went 8-5, 14-0, 8-5 and was fired after going 3-9.


I think it's fair to say that Malzahn's seat would be warm after another 8-5 season lol.

Chizik's seat was barely warm after his third year. And that's because he kept getting blown out by the big teams in the SEC and barely winning the games we should win.

All 8-5 seasons don't mean the same. 8-5 and competitive in all but one of your losses is much better than 8-5 and getting blown out in 5 games.

If Malzahn goes 8-5 and is competitive there will be some grumblings but his job won't be in danger.
