the first amendment only applies to government interference. if a group of private citizens wants to do something to block Westboro from protesting a memorial, how does the first amendment apply?

I'm not seeing any state action restricting your speech. The first amendment is not absolute and it does not apply to private citizens.

Private citizens however are free to treat you however they want. You say offensive stupid shite then you better be ready to accept any consequences of that.
