Journalism

My first cousin graduated from Mizzou in Journalism. Within 5 years he was working for the Wall Street Journal. Not long after being hired on at the WSJ, he was promoted to covering Capitol Hill. President Bush specifically asked my cousin along with a handful of other journalists to accompany him on Air Force 1 during a world tour that started in Europe. When President Bush would address the media, every now-and-then he'd make some friendly jabs at my cousin and call him by his first name on TV.

Of course that was no interest to most people. But it was pretty cool especially considering that my cousin is more like an older brother than first cousin. My father raised him for a portion of his childhood and we spent a lot of time working on the farm together in northeast Missouri.

Now he's a media consultant who works with Fortune 500 companies to create crisis management plans of action. My cousin is the individual who planned Target's highly successful media response to their most recent compromise. His media plan actually caused Target's stock to go up after experiencing one of the largest compromises in history.

My cuz is killing it right now!

Good luck, Jones.

That is awesome man. Your cousin sounds like a boss

One of the coolest things about journalism is the people you get to interact with. I've met Hugh Freeze, Les Miles, James Franklin and interacted with players. It's a great field to be in but it is very demanding.
