If the pain has been going on for 6 weeks or longer you are probably not going to be able to fix a herniated disk on your own. Herniated means the disk is ruptured allowing the gel type fluid from the inside too leak out and press aginst the nerve causing pain to radiate down your leg and can cause numbness in your toes. I had one in my L4-L5, lower back. I had a micro discectomy done. They basically clean out the gel. I had immediate relief and was playing golf in 6 weeks. That's been 14 years ago. Consult your doctor before it becomes worse. Hope this helps.
