How commonplace is it for a recruit's parent to move to his college town with him, especially knowing it'll be for only 4 years or less? What did she do before moving, and what does she do now?

I bought them a house to get him to go to Ole Miss instead of Georgia. Lots of jewelry too. Do something about it.
