Mullen finished #15 in the country in his 2nd year (better than Freeze's final ranking last year). If you're going to qualify "with his own players" then Freeze wouldn't really start until 2015 or 2016. He still had Nutt recruits in 2014.

Freeze recruited the QB, all 4 RBs, 3 of the 5 starting OL, the main backup at OL (Conyers), 4 of the 5 top WRs, and TE from this team. Also the entire DL (minus C.J. Johnson), Husky, FS, and 1 CB.

Nutt had a pretty good defensive class his last recruiting class getting Denzel Nkemdiche, Senquez Golson, Cody Prewitt, C.J. Johnson, Serderius Bryant, Keith Lewis. He also brought in the other 2 OL in Justin Bell and Aaron Morris.

Without a doubt those guys helped a lot, but Freeze recruited the majority of this team.

I stick with my first answer and reasoning.

For 5 years, Im going Freeze or Jones, leaning Freeze cause I have seen more from him. Took Mullen 6 years to have a good team with his own players, and most are expecting a decline this year.

That's fair. But even though Mullen was only in his 2nd year, we could say the same. Mullen didn't recruit Chris Relf, but he certainly developed him, plus our other QB who played was a four-star signed by Mullen (and who started the next 3 years and set MSU passing records). Both had QB ratings over 140 in 2010.

Mullen also recruited MSU 2010's top 2 RB's, 6 of the top 7 in receiving yards, the kicker, 4 of State's top 5 in interceptions, and 12 of State's top 14 in tackles.

So a significant portion of MSU's 2010 #15 ranked team and all of MSU's 2014 #11 ranked team was signed by Mullen.
