I'd say you guys have been winning big over the last 2 years in regards to seasonal expectations placed on to you by national pundits. Having a winning record against every team outside of UGA isn't easy. Even in a bad East. And Making it to the SECCG twice in 3 seasons is respectable even with the outcomes.

Athletically, MU looked out matched against AU and Bama in the CC games. If the caliber of athlete has more parity between MU and the Alabamas, Auburns, and LSU's, I think that Pinkel would have a chance to bring home some hardware. Your staff schemes, red shirts, and develops players as good as anyone in the country. 90% of the time that works great. It's tough to beat the loaded Alabamas and Auburns of the CFB world with a noticeable disadvantage in the caliber of athlete and depth of them on each sideline. Pinkel does a fantastic job given the circumstances IMO.

Your staff schemes,

no, we really don't, hate him all you want, but Petrino is a far better offensive scheming mind than anyone MU has had in Pinkels tenure. Pinkel and Yost where out of their league at it and Henson has been somewhat better than adequate.

Consistency is what Pinkel does, it's not magic and it's not a mystery and it doesn't beat superior opponents, nor is it 100% as we saw against IU last year. That and a superior D-line/pass rush is about it, I know you'ed like to believe that it took a monumental effort to beat your Vols the past 2 years, but it really didn't.
