The Board of Trustees of The University of Alabama System has named Dr. Stuart R. Bell president of The University of Alabama.
The appointment will be effective July 15.
A nearly 30-year veteran of higher education, Bell, 58, is executive vice president and provost at Louisiana State University. Bell serves, as he has since 2012, as both the chief academic officer and the chief operating officer of LSU. These responsibilities at LSU include oversight of all academic, research and student programs and coordination of related fiscal operations.
