The game has evolved very much over time. In some decades, bowls were important. In others, bowls didn't have the same value placed on them.
I know you can parse that because you can type letters and had enough sense to sign up for a board and make posts so, you are doing good.
20 years from now, I'll have to explain to a whole new crop of the wilfully ignorant that the BCS really did count and Bama's NC's during that time actually are valid.

Well except for the fact that I think there was only one split championship during the BCS era and Bama was not involved.
