Yall need to read the newspaper stories from when OBC signed wit Florida over ole miss. He wanted to pass the ball, and Ut said no.

UT didn't say no. We were still running the Wing T/Single Wing at the time he was recruited which basically turns the QB into a tailback. The irony is that given that freshmen couldn't play back then and Spurrier didn't start until 1964 as a sophomore, he'd have been able to play at UT as we switched over in 1964. Ray Graves at UF was a former Vol and a legend here who'd played under Neyland (highly likely that Spurrier grew up idolizing him as a Vol from the many stories told about him by fellow Vol fans - Graves was a legend and had that Neyland pedigree).

My story still stands. The UT coach when he was being recruited didn't want him. Who came a year or two later couldn't have mattered. He tried to get UT to see his way. They didn't.
