and when the stone happens...you'll still know it.
That's the worst freaking part. There's nothing in this world worse than the first sharp shooting pain of a kidney stone.

Yeah...not much fun. No part of it is fun.

I remember driving my wife to the hospital one night as she went into labor with our first child...about 45 minute drive. Half way there, you guessed it...I have a stone start moving. By the time we get to the ER I am almost doubled over driving. They wheel her in and ask what is wrong with me. they wheel me in, etc. They do my scan, etc., etc. I wake up a few hours later to learn they stopped my wife's labor. She was upstairs in a room and I was down in the ER.

Wife accused me of stealing her thunder.

100% true story.

I have also been caught on the road other times...be in the middle of nowhere and you know you are just going to have to suffer for 30 minutes to an hour until you can get somewhere while trying not to wreck.

Passing the stone didn't bother me the pain from it shifting was horrible. It was the worse pain I have ever felt in my entire life. I am not looking forward to having to experience again although I probably will have to.

except a blood clot large enough to shut down your stream entirely... and midflow. the only thing worse than pissing blood is that moment you can't. my stones were virtually painless since the stone was hung up in my kidney and never passed into the more delicate area, hence i had a lot of red urine and almost no pain. the jelly finger and 2 front side probings were the worst part of my experience by far.
