I think state and carolina are similar....

Both aren't historical football schools but their current coach has them competing
Both have had previous success in baseball but this year sucked
this year, women's basketball was probably their best sport

That's interesting.. I've been to MSU and the only thing they have in common with SC is that they are both large Deep South state schools with a deep love for baseball.

MSU is very much an Ag/Engineering school while SC is very much a comprehensive liberal arts research university. MSU is very rural, SC is very urban.

They don't share much culturally either, besides being in deep south states. MSU is purely a Southern school.. SC on the other hand is very Southern as well, but there's also a very obvious East Coast cultural presence on campus. I'm pretty sure around 35-40% of each freshmen class comes from other states on the East Coast (mainly NC, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey)..

Culturally, I would say SC has the most in common with UGA (Deep South schools) and UF (east coast vibe)..

Athletically, maybe Mississippi State..

Academically, Alabama, Kentucky or Mizzou (well rounded, large research universities that do something REALLY well)
