So sorry for your loss. Losing family members is never easy. I have lost both parents and in-law parents as well. It made me realize how brief life really is and also that we are ALL mortal and have a time we will leave this earth. I guess my mind told me that we all die eventually but it is my heart that cannot help but hate death.
Knowing the Bible says "Absent from the body, present with the Lord" is a great comfort if you are a Christian but it does not take away the loss of loved ones and the mystery of death. The assurance of eternal life is a great hope for the child of God. It also doesn't change the fact that there is a HUGE hole in your life that was a constant for a long time.
The first time I went to my mother-in-law's house after she moved out I burst into tears. I knew it would never be the same again, and that made me very sad. Still does.
We have fixed it up as a place to stay in my husband's hometown, but I have to say, without her, it is just a house.
Time heals emotions somewhat, but there are many moments something reminds me of my parents, and it is surreal they are gone forever. There will always be moments of sadness. It is good you chose to share this with the forum.
We, the ones still here, should make every effort to make the most of life while we have the opportunity and to NOT take anything for granted.
Again, I am sad for your loss and hope sharing the news helps you.
