Old saying. A man marries his wife and hopes she'll never change. A woman marries and hopes to change her husband into the man she wants. They'll both be disappointed. I love my wife dearly and wouldn't trade her for anything, but my experience and observation is that this old saying is 99.9995% accurate.

Don't be caught off guard when the "cute" stuff you've done for years starts to piss her off. Happens about the time your honeymoon laundry is dry.
