A lot of schools used the 12th man thing, Iowa and Minnesota both before a&m.

That's well-established. In 1900 and 1917!

It may predate that, I dunno. Pretty sure the sign wasn't up when dinosaurs roamed the Earth and I went to school, but "we're the 12th man on the fightin' Aggie team" (from, weirdly, the song "The Twelth Man") predates even me.

The Seahawks seem to be happy with the current agreement, so other than 120-yr old Minnesota grads and 103-yr old Iowa grads I'm not sure who should have a beef with this.

Now they push papers at anyone who uses it.

I prefer to think of this as Triumph's "For me to poop on" defense. Why a Death Valley fan would have an issue with this baffles me, but I'm a bit slow.
