It's not ironic because those two situations are completely different. This is like going up to a cop and punching him in the face, and then acting incredulous when he beats the shite out of you.

They're different, yes, but you can't argue in good faith that the police were wrong on Garner (which I think they unquestionably were) and then start your conversation on this issue by stating how wrong the artists were.
These people drawing the prophet didn't physically harm anyone. In an enlightened society we have to attach true value to that. Thought crimes and offenses have to placed many rungs below punching someone in the face. If we disagree on that then the western world is garbage and we truly should emulate the Middle East.
Can you see how you appear to not be arguing in good faith or with any intellectual honesty/consistency?
