Y'all need to dump CCH. USC is still at a place where they're seen by the college baseball world in the same way that an Arizona is in basketball or an Ohio State is in football. Great facilities, elite stadium, close to all that Georgia, Virginia and Florida talent along with some good in-state guys (I coached at JICHS and the dream for those kids is USC), and recent titles. Strike while the iron is hot and steal a coach from another big-conference school.

Our coaching tree is fairly fruitful. Our AD had several of them as assistants.

There are a lot of factors to consider.

1 - Holbrook and Tanner are close friends do whatever is going to happen, unfortunately, is not going to happen until next year ..... although, Ray and Skip are so close I'd be shocked if Ray has not already been on the phone talking about how he handled the Smoke situation.

2 - Monte Lee (C of C) is next in line and one of Tanner's boys but that slso might cause some issues with some of the existing long time assistants.

3 - Holbrook's buyout is hefty if the trigger is pulled before the end of next season. And Ray Tanner is so budget conscious that I just don't see him pissing away over a million bucks by pulling the trigger too early.

4 - Holbrook lost seven major players to the draft last year .... a year in which he also underachieved IMHO. That, along with injuries, has been his excuse yet his roster is full of nothing but high school all-americans that he recruited.

5 - There is a loyalty factor. Holbrook played an integral part in our NCs. He's a helluva recruiter. He just does not appear to be head coaching material.
