You're still, somehow, not grasping the question I'm asking. How do they get the media to buy in?

I've explained it to you. And your thread is a good example.

It is exceptionally important to Ole Miss people, almost to a person, to claim everything about Oxford and Ole Miss is twice as good as it is in reality. One cannot encounter an Ole Miss person without them spewing a bunch of overblown nonsense about Oxford or Ole Miss. It is important because of your narrow, Celtic, sharecropper vs planter, fear of being labeled white trash, overly class-conscious culture.

Lazy writers repeat it.

There it is. Was that so hard?

Ok, so we've established these people aren't truly doing their job. What writers and publications should we trust? Possibly none when related to certain topics I would assume. Should "lists" and "polls" and "rankings" articles even be posted on this site?

Also, if they're willing to just plagiarize propaganda that has been passed down from our fans for generations, who's to say they don't do the same thing with other areas of their writing?

Or are Ole Miss fans just a breed of douchebag that are truly one of a kind, and we have completely warped perception unlike any other school has?
