Are you white? For AL this is an important question.

So outside of the Spanish Villa suggestion are there any other apartments/condos that I could look into in the Midtown area? I'm not sure what constitutes as Midtown but I do have family there so I'm going to get them to show me around this weekend when I come down to begin browsing for places.

Someone mentioned if you are planning on staying for at least a couple years, you should look into joining a Mardi Gras Society. It really is one of the best ways to network (both from a business standpoint and a social) quickly in Mobile. I think for most societies, new member applications are past due for this upcoming year. I guarantee some of your co-workers belong to a few, so after they get to know you I'm sure they'd vouch for you.

Get a copy of this book and you'll understand our history of Mardi Gras and why it's so important to Mobile. And again, if you plan to stay for a couple years, buy a set of tails for the Mardi Gras balls. Trust me, by year 2 you'll be saving money from the rental fees...plus you'll look badass in tails
