Irrelevant when judging whether the BCS "got it right," yes, because you are using a different set of criteria to make that judgment than the BCS actually used to make a decision. It isn't that complicated. In fact, it can be summed up with a common phrase:

With that kind of logic, LSU was just as deserving in 2007 as Bama was in 2011.
ie, they won the game, therefore they deserved to be there.
