I think 05 (with DJ at QB obviously) could make a case.
03's defense was one of the best we've ever had, but man we had some offensive issues. For starters, our entirely new OL (all 5 starters) gave up 47 sacks. It's a wonder Greene didn't get killed. DG put up his worst passer rating of his career that year, and while he threw for 3300 yards, he only had 13 TDs and 11 Int. Our run game was spotty as well, as our leading rusher barely had 700 yards, while 2nd best didn't even crack 600.
As strictly a defense, yeah that team is up there. But I think our shaky offense (notably the OL) should leave this team in just "pretty good" territory instead of just missing the cut.
