As API, they really don't have a dog in this fight. Hell, your own atheletic department is in the red. Your system to not be viable financially. Here your telling the University how to run its board. Seems to me, you need to get the crap off your own carpet, before you worry about anyone elses.

UAB football is in the red and financially defunct. They started out wanting to play on the main stage, when they should have been playing on lower levels in another NCAA division. You have to walk before you run. I'm surprised that you people down south at API didn't know that. Then again, expecting common sense from you guys, is just to much of a reach.

It's not even really about the football anymore at this point. It's the fact that the people in charge are actively undermining what's best for two schools in their system essentially just to make themselves look better.

Do you know how many college football programs make money? Not many. Just because Bama is one of the few that does doesn't mean they should rub their nose at a Univeristy that doesn't. Football is worth the money spent for most colleges. It improves the identity of college, broadens it's profile and appeal, and vastly improves the student experience.

You can't make money without spending money. It's next to impossible to succes without the right tools, and UAB was constantly denied the tools to succeed. Don't approve a coach that's all but paid for. Don't approve a stadium that's all but paid for. Don't approve facilities that are all but paid for. UAB has worse facilities than Hoover HS and was never allowed to upgrade. How are you supposed to win with that? You create an atmosphere for failure and then act surprised when it fails.

And UAB did not start off on the big stage. UAB football started off as a club sport. Then D3, then 1-AA before finally moving up. You only keep a school with a 1-A enrollment that's already been successful in other sports at that level away from 1-A for so long

This is bullshite of the highest order. The UAB athletic department is poorer than Auburn and not one shred of proof has ever been brought forward that indicates those projects ever had more than handshake promises for donations.

Of course its about football thats all you talk about. Not sure how throwing away millions on a football program few care about is best for anyone. Lastly if this was to make ppl look better, how is that working out?

Do you know how many of my neighbors owe thousands in credit card debt? Lots of them. Doesn't mean I should do it

This is laughable. Having your name appear on the crawler on ESPN does not improve your identity and there was basically no student support in 20 years. UT Arlington does not have football yet they are a higher ranked and bigger school than UAB

That is a flat out lie that the facilities were all but paid for. They were going to have to borrow $75 million to pay for that stadium. Do you know how many schools don't have on campus stadiums? Are they all being denied by a board of trustees? South Alabama does not have one and there are zero plans to build one.

Tulane just built a brand new on campus stadium last year. Their already abysmal attendance went up 2,000 people.
