Pearl vs Howland could be future ESPN 30 for 30 material. Despite my healthy disdain for Alabama as a Tennessean, I honestly hope they don't shite the bed here. I want the SEC to be a force in basketball like it already is for football and baseball. Alabama could potentially have a seat at the SEC basketball table if they play their cards right. I want to see our conference get to the point that it is consistently producing 6-8 teams to the dance.
Kentucky being an obvious given, but there is no reason Tennessee, Alabama, A&m, Arky, Florida, Vanderbilt, Auburn (with Pearl), LSU, UGA ect. should not have the expectation and commitment to dance every March.

Couldn't agree more. Kentucky is in a realm of their own but every other SEC basketball program stands to gain from other programs improving.
Right now, like you say, having not only more NCAA teams but also more legitimate Top 25 teams every year (and even better if those teams vary a bit) means increased energy and exposure for everyone and that will pay off in recruiting.
I'm no recruiting expert but I would think that the biggest strides to be made for almost every SEC basketball program isn't against each other but just attracting more elite players (back) to the conference as a whole.
