My wolf died (legal where I was before anyone starts on me). They don't live as long as some of the longer lived regular doggies, especially indoor dogs, but he was named after Houdini and I miss him dearly. He was so goofy when it came to hanging out with me but he scared the hell out of strangers (was rarely friendly to them even though I can't say he was ever bad). However. he would've killed any man or woman without second thought who tried to do violence to me -- he was my pack mate although he was a big ole goofy dog when it came to me. Nothing broke his heart more than when he accidentally tore through my pants leg (he was sliding down) but his claws weren't like a regular dog. You'd have thought he injured me the poor guy was so repentant. I had to soothe him and let him know it was ok.
What was so funny is he was not only the Alpha of the wolves we had but scared the bejeezus out of anyone not family as well as any dog or animal who wondered up to the house. He never attacked a human though and mostly raising his hackles and growling ran animals (and humans) the hell off.
I miss big ole baby a great deal, although I'm sure if you saw him you'd think I was nuts calling him that. But he accepted me since he was a pup as his alpha (even though he was the alpha of the small wolfpack) and was a goofball towards me even if he could be scary to others.
Even though he never harmed anyone, it was cool to know that if someone ever tried to harm me they were toast. He was super protective of me.
