I haven't read it and it's the only book by Charles Portis I haven't read. But I know what you mean. That was a damn fine movie. Really good. And I do know that Portis uses a lot of local dialect in the book which Jeff Bridges and other actors in the movie handled very well. Let me put it this way...Portis thinks they did a fine job with the movie.

He's also not super into contractions, which was relatively well reflected in the movie.
