Auburn 'definitely recruiting me the hardest,' says running back Malik Miller

Malik Miller has yet to announce any leaders or favorites during his recruiting process, but it appears Auburn is in good standing with the Madison Academy running back as he prepares to visit the Plains this weekend.

"I'm trying to get down there and talk to Coach (Gus) Malzahn, Coach (Rhett) Lashlee and Coach (Tim) Horton and have fund and have a good time on campus," Miller told AL.com "They're definitely recruiting me the hardest. I'm not leaning toward any school right now, but they're standing out. Every chance they get, they're coming up to my school or calling me or sending me letters."

The 5-foot-11, 229-pounder helped lead Madison Academy to its third consecutive Class 3A state championship last season. He rushed for 1,390 yards and 24 touchdowns behind Mr. Football Kerryon Johnson, who signed with Auburn's 2015 class earlier this month.

"(Johnson) talks to me about Auburn all the time," Miller said. "Outside of Coach Horton, I think he's the biggest Auburn recruiter. If I'm wearing an Auburn shirt he sends a photo to Coach Horton. If I have another shirt on, he says 'Take that off, I have an Auburn shirt for you.'

"I would definitely like to play with him (in college.) We've had a great high school run together. He's a great teammate and a great guy and I've known him since we were kids. He made the decision that was best for him, and I have to make the decision that is best for me. Auburn may be the place for me, but as of right now I don't know."

Outside of Auburn, Miller has also been heavily pursued by Alabama, Florida State, Georgia and Mississippi State. He is expected to visit Florida State next weekend and hopes to return to Tuscaloosa for the first time since the 2014 Iron Bowl soon.

"Alabama is getting back on it after their coaching changes," Miller said. "Alabama and Auburn are right down the road, I can visit them at any time and have a good relationship with the coaches. Coach (Kevin) Steele was my primary recruiter, but the first coach I talked to since he left was Coach (Lane) Kiffin. Coach (Mario) Cristobal and one of his graduate assistants help recruit this area too, so I'm probably going to give them a call today. The recruitment by Alabama is picking up right where it left off."

Miller hopes to make his commitment prior to his senior season so he can put his recruitment behind him and focus on school and football. He is ranked as a three-star prospect, the nation's top fullback and the No. 10 overall player in the state of Alabama by the 247Sports Composite.
