There are probably blah parts on every campus. I like the fact the buildings at Clemson aren't too pretentious looking with Greek columns and the like.
Downtown Columbia isn't all that urban. I think In reality there is not more to do in Columbia than Clemson. You can go to bars and restaurants in Clemson, Anderson, and Greenville is right up the road with one of the nicest downtowns in the country along with numerous restaurants. If you like being outside, Clemson is right on a lake with the mountains a short drive away, it has its own golf course, etc.

You don't think there's more to do in Columbia than Clemson? Now you're just being ridiculous. I was just restricting it to downtown but if you want to take this to the general area then there's really no argument, one of the cities has a top 20 zoo for instance..
Downtown Clemson has a few bars. If I'm a college student, and it's a Thursday night (one of the most popular nights for students to go out, in case you've forgotten).. I'm not driving to Anderson or Greenville to get wasted, and then drive back. Not happening. I know this, I was a student less than 2 years ago. "Right up the road" you say, more like 40 minutes. Yea, not happening. Good for a Sunday trip when your parents are in town though.
...and I'm pretty sure you were kidding about Anderson, South Carolina's nightlife... Anderson University students don't even hang out there.

You're absolutely blind if you think there isn't more to do in Columbia than Clemson. That's bull shite and you're a clear homer.
Clemson is boring as frick. The parties there fricking suck and there is like one street in Clemson to do anything on. Columbia as a variety to choose from on each street, plus the campus.
