Bryant:1-1
Perkins: 2-2
Curry: 3-0
Stallings: 0-3
Dye never beat Stallings. He was lucky to have coached against Curry or he would have had a losing record against Bama instead of .500

Exactly. Dye was nothing more than a good coach and according to the NCAA he cheated to be that.

And we had Barfield going up against Bear. Argument works both ways for everyone not wearing Crimson.

Saban at Bama vs:
Tuberville: 1-1
Chizik: 3-1
Malzahn: 1-1
Saban was lucky he coached against Chiz, then, amirite?
As to Dye getting his drank on, I knew a guy who worked with the AU Radio Network during my time at AU in the early 80s. Said his job on Thursdays during football season was setting up for Tiger Talk by cracking the seal on a fifth of Jack Black and making sure Coach had plenty of ice in his glass at all times.
Also knew someone in the lab at EAMC. He told me in September '93 that if he were a member of Dye's family, he wouldn't waste any money on Christmas presents for him that year.
The fact that he's still drawing breath more than two decades later is proof that, whatever your opinion of him as a coach or a human being, you have to admit that he's a medical miracle.
