Miami- one of the best programs the last 30 years- doesn't even pay their head coach $2.5 million a year. His CV sucks, but you figure just being the coach of a southern elite program would make at least half what Sumlin makes. Why doesn't the Miami job pay more? Because of the internal politics fueled by someone who was in a Democratic presidential cabinet.

Politics matters when it comes to these institutions that are very high profile, and often are publicly funded. The reason I brought up Wincy is because when the last coach left I remember more than one thread on their forum wondering if they could pay coaches SEC money. Many thought they couldn't due to how "bad it would look."

Miami is still recovering from all the sanctions and bad publicity! Even worse example

Again, Politics and local economy has little to no effect in the situation we were discussing.

Not to mention, Chavis has a permanent residence in Tennesseee where his wife lives and he will rent an Apt most likely in college station like he did here. So the whole tax argument is out to
