Roswell linebacker Tre Lamar visited Georgia on Saturday and the Bulldogs gave him some good news while he was in town. Lamar holds offers from over two dozen programs and received one from UGA before he left campus.

"It was a great visit," Lamar said of his time in Athens. "It was great to get down to Georgia finally and get the in-state offer. It was a good visit overall."

Lamar received the news from Georgia Head Coach Mark Richt.

"I went up to see Coach Richt and we sat down and had a one-on-one talk. He said that the coaches really like my film and that they are extending me offer to play linebacker there. They said they really liked how I play and we talked over how we would be at Georgia and being the student-athlete part of it and what they expect from their players."

During the visit prospects were able to tour Georgia's facilities, spend time with the coaches, and learn about the academic side of things at UGA. Two of those three things combined to be the highlight of the four-star talent's trip.

"The coaches, I met coach (Mike) Ekeler. He's a great coach. He's really into it and has a lot of energy about him. He's a coach I could see myself playing for," Lamar said when asked about the best part time at UGA. "What stood out were really the coaches and when we went into the educational part, it was nice to see how they do it and how they stress the part of being a student."

While some may consider UGA's offer the the Top247 standout "late," Lamar says he has no plans of holding that against the Bulldogs and that they are in consideration for his signature.

"I'm definitely considering Georgia," he said. "This is the first solid, in-depth visit I've had here. I definitely have to get up here again to see more of it, but I definitely think it is a school I'm considering going forward."

At 6-foot-4 241 pounds, some feel Lamar could end up playing with his hand on the ground as a defensive end at the next level, but he isn't shy about the fact that he would rather be in two-point stance.

"I do want to play backer but inside or outside, I've played both and I feel comortable playing both, so I'll play either one," he said.

In the meantime, Lamar says a number of schools are recruiting him in full force but he claims no leader.

"Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Clemson and Tennessee are after me pretty hard right now," he said. All of those schools are some of the higher schools I'm looking at right now. I don't really have a top school or anything."

Darion Anderson of Houston County got some news on a junior day visit to Georgia on Saturday in the form of offer from the Bulldogs.

“It was pretty exciting, it kind of surprised me” Anderson said.

Mark Richt told the 6-foot-1, 170 pound athlete while in his office in a meeting.

“I was shocked to hear it and from him, I thought if I got one I would hear it from somebody else,” he said.

A few things stood out to Anderson on the trip he says.

“Just how the coaches were and how they made it feel like home there.”

With his offer sheet climbing there is no timetable on a decision but could happen before the season starts.

“I am trying to commit before my senior season right now that is the plan,” he said.

Anderson admits he did not grow up a Georgia Bulldog fan but left Athens impressed.

“To be honest I was never really a Georgia fan, but after being there, it is so nice.”

When asked who he grew up a fan of Anderson replied “Ohio State.”

Anderson said the UGA offer was at wide receiver and that is the position he wants to play.

At this time he says no one is on top for him.
