Interestingly, the reason she's having drinks is that one of their coworkers suddenly quit this week. Sweet grandmotherly lady and her grandson is in my wife's class.
Turns out she embezzled 100k at her previous job and finally went to jail for it and gave a "hey I won't be there this week for personal reasons" letter. Apparently the previous boss didn't do a background check.
SHTF when parents found out.
