That said, if Colt McCoy is your entire offense, then it is stupid to risk him getting injured by running him into the teeth of our defense. If you are a national championship team, you should also be able to score a TD with 3 chances from the goal line no matter who the QB is.

Agreed. If you're a one-man offense, why run a play where you expose that one man to injury? Every one acts like McCoy would've just had his way with us that game...he was actually very hit or miss that year. He had some very sub-par games that year, especially against Nebraska and Oklahoma, and actually had better numbers the year before...

Speaking of that game, it just felt like we had a bunch of grown men on defense. Dareus, Ro, Arenas, Cody, etc. You knew they could handle any situation and would never get intimidated. It hasn't felt that way on defense in a few years. That's the kind of elite defense I want.

Agree here as well...and I think the main ingredient we've been missing recently is a defensive play-caller that really knows the defense we run. Having Ro out there was like having a coach on the field. That '09 D was not the most talented that we've had, but they played to their potential and had great leadership...

I also miss some of the swag our Defense used to have with alpha leaders like Rolo, Arenas and Dre Kirk. Guys were not arrogant in a bad way, but they stepped on the field confident and others guys fed off that and the other teams noticed it too. Depriest was a good role players, but was never going to be the Alpha that our defenses fed off of, neither was Collins for that matter. We need that Alpha personality again on D.
