Did you just start watching college football 5 years ago? Their down period is no better or worse than any of the other elites etc. You probably think Nebraska just became good in the 90's. Nebraska has been a power since the 20's and 30's

If anything the team out of place is Texas as they have never experienced the dynasty run the others have.

Nebraska wasnt a powerhouse until Devaney came along, they were a good program but nowhere close to Oklahoma. In fact the conference was once called Oklahoma and the seven dwarfs.

Nebraska was powerhouse decades before Devaney. The Big 8 was formed in 1928 and Nebraska won like 8 of the first 10 conference championships

He's right though. Nebraska's days of dominance are over. This isn't about the past. Moving forward Nebraska simply won't be able to recruit at a level to stay at a top level constantly. They may jump up and have a strong year occasionally, but not sustained success like in the past.

Why? What has suddenly changed? Obviously the people with in the sport disagrees considering they just got a coach who turned down Alabama and USC twice.

Verlander is a moron who doesn't understand demographic trends: Michigan has one half of one national title in the last 50 years, three teams from Florida have more titles than that since 1990.

Big 10 football outside of perhaps Ohio is dead along with ND football as consistent national powers- tell you what I'll take the Big 6 (really 5 now) and give you every single team in America North of the Mason Dixon and East of the Rockies regardless of conference over the next two decades.

National titles are subjective.

Yes I do understand demographic trends that is in fact that is my entire point. Demographics have changed several times over the past century+ yet Michigan(along with the 7 other elites) has continued to be a power.
