Actually the SEC does the Bowl placements so I could see them saying no on them playing Baylor after playing OU.

It benefits Baylor and Big XII to play UT not other way around.

Well it would've turned the game into a feature game as well. UAB was scheduled to be our opener and for LP Field in Nashville (we scheduled a neutral site because our AD is protesting a weird tax the city of Knoxville imposes on us and because Nashville might as well be a home game).

So the schedule would've been:
UT vs Baylor @LP Field (Nashville) Sept. 5
UT vs OU @Neyland (Knoxville) Sep. 12

Not only would that put us playing back to back B12 teams to start the year but that matchup being in Nashville at LP would essentially make it one of the bigger kick off type games in all but name. In theory that could pose problems for the conference as it would pit the UT vs. Baylor at LP on the same day as the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game (Auburn vs. Louisville). It would certainly piss the Chick-Fil-A Kickoff organizers off as the SEC has a contract with them.
