I'm sorry, Bama didd not build the SEC on its own. Don't forget, Kentucky is one of the founding members of the conference.

UK earns the conference credits for every round they advance in the NCAAt. More SEC teams that make it and advance = more money for the conference. The SEC sucking in basketball outside of UK, Florida and Tennessee the last decade isn't helping any.

Every single non-expansion team -- i.e. everyone except Arkansas, USC, TAMU, and Mizzou -- currently in the SEC is a founding member.
