It can be said of an athlete that "he has it or he doesn't"
As someone who has worked as a collegiate coach, I can tell you a coach "has it or he doesn't"
The bottom line is the system you have for recruiting, developing players, practicing, and winning games works or it doesn't. Players leaving the program early doesn't matter. Circumstances don't matter. A coach has to plan for stuff like that. The system isn't just an offense or style of play. Its everything.
After 5 seasons, you know if your system works. Grant's system is broken. He needs to throw the one he has in the trash and start over. This doesn't need to be at Alabama

Yep. Everyone is allowed one-off situations. An injury here. Transfer there. After several seasons, you kind of are who you are. When you're being paid elite money, you're expected to have a program in place that can weather those type of storms to a certain degree.
