Same with okra - I've heard outsiders say it's the most awful thing ever and describe it as nasty. Those folks are getting non-southern style okra and it's tainting them and causing them to stereotype it. Love me some okra, many ways to cook but I especially like it fried, have not done it for awhile but when having a fish fry we'll drop some okra in the batter and eat that shite like candy, also goes in the gumbo rather than file.
