I'm not saying it's likely, but there is still a chance, albeit a small one. I'm not holding my breath on it. Just follow me for a minute here. This is how Mizzou gets in if we beat Bama:

UCLA, UGA, Ole Miss, Miss St, and Mich St all are watching championship week from the couch. Mizzou will move past all of these teams. That's +5 spots to #11.

Wisconsin is playing a wounded OSU this week. If Wisconsin wins, we jump both teams. +2 spots to #9.

The committee doesn't have a whole lot of respect for FSU. If Ga Tech wins, we jump FSU for sure, probably Ga Tech as well. +2 spots to #7.

KSU and Baylor play. We jump ahead of the loser. If KSU wins, we should jump ahead of both teams. +1-2 spots to #5-6.

TCU plays ISU and will likely win, but a loss would end their run and move us up 1 more spot. You never know when you face Paul Rhodes.

That brings us to Oregon/Arizona. If Oregon wins, we would jump Arizona putting us in the 4-5 range. Things will get interesting if Arizona wins, both teams may make it in ahead of us.

So, what happens with Bama? Would Missouri move ahead of them? It'll be interesting to see how much the committee values a conference championship game winner in that situation.

Honestly, there's a good chance the big games turn out in Mizzou's favor. I think Wisconsin and Ga Tech will win their games and the KSU/Baylor game will be a toss-up with the edge going to Baylor. The bigger question will be what the committee does if Mizzou, KSU, Ga Tech, and Wisconsin all win this weekend. Things will get crazy and you can bet that the SEC will do all the lobbying it can to get Mizzou AND Bama in at 3 and 4. Is this a likely scenario, no. It is scenario that has a very real possibility of happening though.

I love your optimism but it can't happen. even with the x factors that are unlikely, Bama will still be ranked higher than us even if we win. We are too many spots back. I thought we would have been ranked 12 but 16 is too far.

We have done a great job this year and will be in a decent bowl I think. We have a lot returning next year and the outrage with the one deserving power 5 team not making the playoff means we might expand to 8 next year or the year after. We might get a NC in the next few years. Sadly, not this year. Not with an Indiana loss. no way.
