Your grammar was fine. Don't worry about that. And keep trying to be a writer (I saw your reply before you edited.) If it helps, some of the greatest writers in history were terrible at lots of aspects of writing, from Jane Austen to Charles Dickens to F. Scott Fitzgerald. If writers were perfect, editors would be out of a job. And editors are most definitely not out of a job.
