He definitely fumbled the ball my question is about the recovery. Find the clip for yourself... The defender went out of bounds and was the first to touch it when coming in bounds... He cant legally possess the ball first if he went out of bounds and he was not forced out...
Is that not illegal touching? Any of the other defenders could have scooped and scored that were in bounds...

Wanted to ask fellow Rebs for their opinion.

SB nation article

Found this don't understand why illegal touching doesn't apply. He went out of bounds... He's the first to possess it since it was live and he was out of bounds...
Bend the rules because it was nifty.. Cool play?

Don't have a dog in the race... Found it interesting though

First to touch was the Utah player who fumbled, so, I think it's legal.

That damn Organ would've still won the game.

I don't know about that we had huge momentum at that point and we would of had even more if we went up 14-0 but after that fumble Oregon basically just had complete control.

So, MR has lost control of both Utah and the PAC refs?

He was the first to posess the live fumbled ball is what I meant.... If thats the situation then the QB was the first to posess the ball. Before the Wr..

Interesting issues

a) what if one of the zebras whistled between the fumble and the run back

b) as the ducks waited, a stuff in the end zone by Utah means a safety and a 16 point swing plus momentum in favor of Utah.

Game was...
Utah 7
Oregon 0

If Utah scores - idiot of the year notwithstanding
Utah 14
Oregon 0

If Utah nails Duck in end zone
Utah 9
Oregon 0
(and gets the ball right back)

The reality, huge impact on rest of game as now...
Utah 7
Oregon 7

That play had so many playoff connotations.
