so they suspended him until the case was over, there was actually an investigation done by the PD, and charges were never filed on Lane. Are we supposed to be outraged or something? Sounds like it was handled pretty well

I beg to differ and disagree that it was handled "pretty well". If a young lady having to just accept a crime being committed against her, being violated and then the prospects of being ostracized and shamed in her community and around campus is being handled pretty well then we're not doing things right as a society.

To not have to endure the added shame and publicity of being raped by a quasi-celebrity forces a girl into not pressing charges and not seeking justice, that is a shame. We all know the M.O. is to rake the victims over the coals, destroy their lives publicly, submit them to further baseless abuse from the fanbases, and once in the courtroom to shred them to pieces on the stand and question every decision they've ever made and to reveal their sexual history into public record.

I don't feel that letting another criminal get off scott-free is worth categorizing the situation as being handled pretty well.
