Why should Bama go after losing to Mississippi, just because you think Bama is better than Oregon/MSU/FSU?

bc if bama wins out it will mean they are SEC champs (potentially, unless OM wins out), and have beaten WVU, TAMU, LSU, MSU, and AU. No other top 4 team will have a better resume.

That's a lot of IFs in there, but you don't honestly think simply winning the B1G or the Big12 means you are deserving of a playoff spot, do you? You're smart enough to know not all conferences are created equally. There are likely 5 SEC teams - maybe 6 - that would win the B1G.

Yes.

That is subjective and irrelevant.

Again, that is irrelevant.

The playoff for the NATIONAL championship should pit teams from different conferences from around the country. What matters should be being the best team in your conference - proven by winning on the field.

Anything else is subjective and prone to backfire on proponents. Be careful what you wish for, you may get it. I want the SEC champion to be GUARANTEED a spot in the playoff, even if they have 3 losses.

I think it should be conference champions only, until it gets to at least 8 teams.

You know who goes to the Super Bowl? The NFC Champion and the AFC Champion.

You know who goes to the World Series? The NL Champion and the AL Champion.

You know who goes to the NBA Finals? The Eastern Conference Champion and the Western Conference Champion.

In all of those sports, some wild-cards exist before you get to the championship round, but in baseball and football, the division champions have some sort of benefit over the wild cards regarding playoff game sites and/or byes. In the NBA, the divisions don't mean as much, but the better teams have home court advantage each round.

College football is the only sport that uses any type of "eye test" to pick a champion, resulting in the possibility of a team that has not won a lower level championship of any kind to play for it all. It was BS in 2011 and it would be BS now.
