The best team as determined by the BCS uses different criteria than the SEC does.

The 'best' anything is the thing that most successfully accomplishes objectives of a process within the rules of that process.

Whether or not the process is flawed or unfair is irrelevant.

Oh good, more subjective criteria. How do you define "most successfully"?

But you're saying LSU was better than Alabama at the same time that Alabama was better than LSU. You have no meaningful definition of 'best'.

'Best' is subjective, 'champion' is objective. I suggest we drop the notion of trying to figure out who is 'best' because it is beset with bias and subjectivity, and focus on determining 'champions'. To that end we should minimize bias and subjectivity by selecting only conference champions to participate in a post-season tournament to crown a champion.
