It wasn’t necessarily a whim of television executives that landed Georgia a noon kickoff Saturday in Columbia. The Bulldogs actually lobbied for an early kickoff.
Coach Mark Richt admitted during Tuesday’s news conference that UGA lobbied the conference office to keep it away from a late kickoff if at all possible.

Not really...he just asked that it not be at night since we have to fly to Arkansas next week. He didnt specifically request noon.

He shouldn't be able to ask anything. This is fricking absurd.

“Well, we didn’t lobby for noon, but we weren’t interested in 9 o’clock. Even 6 (p.m. ET) would have been tough on us,” Richt said Tuesday.
That only left noon & the 4:00est slots...

Did he also ask that we only play 10 players at a time? Just for convenience sake of course.

I really don't think our lobbying had much to do with it. CBS got pick #1 for their 3:30 slot(#2AU-#3MSU), ESPN got picks #2 & #3(#7Bama-Ark and #3Old Miss-#14LSU)for the 6:00 & 9:00 slots & CBS got pick #4 for the nooner(#13UGA-#23MU). Really just luck of the draw...

You wouldn't think it would, but I'm surprised the conference office would even take such a call.

Nothing Georgia did or said had any influence. Networks take the next most desirable game when it's there turn to pick.

Understood, but I find it hard to believe they'd loony the league office if they have zero say. Seems like a massive waste of time, no?
