All those people that were there for the Vandy game have that image burned in their memories forever. It would be hard to tell anyone that was there that it wasn't a "big deal."

This.

My parents were at that Vandy game in 1989. My mother was not happy with me playing football as a result. Many others feel the same way, even today.

When I was a kid, Chucky Mullins was as big of a part of Ole Miss Football as Archie, Dixie, Col. Reb, etc. It's hard to compare him to someone else at another school, but I would liken it to our version of Rudy at ND.

I am proud we as a university are honoring his legacy 25 years later in this fashion. Chucky represents a turning point in our university and state's history for the better. Sad to say, his injury was the first time Ole Miss supporters and Mississippians of any color came together for a common cause... to support Chucky and one another in a tragedy.
