I agree had it been a foot short it would not have mattered because there was no clear shot of the ball and where forward momentum ceased. Richt had to challenge though it was his last chance to stay in the game. That is the way it happens sometimes and if the situation were turned around we would be arguing with the Gamecocks as to why it was a first down

If he didn't challenge, wouldn't UGA have had enough timeouts to get the ball back with a little bit of time if they got a stop?

I know they had two timeouts and there was about 1:25 left. I guess it would have been very little time.
