Let's talk about this word "stretch" for a moment.

I've seen the phrases "stretch the field" and "stretch the pocket" used in this thread.

Seems like we have to pick one. Do you want a guy who can stretch the field or the pocket? Because realistically, you can't have both.

Could McCarron stretch the field? Sure. Could he stretch the pocket? Hell no. McCarron had 387 yards passing against Oklahoma. He also lost about 50 yards on seven sacks and gave up a touchdown on a fumble return. Are sacks always the QBs fault? No, but that's irrelevant in this discussion. The point is, how well can the QB escape and then make a sound decision when he's running for his life.

The bottom line is that Sims is what he is. The reality is that he probably isn't going to get much better, and, let's face it...maybe Coker won't either. I wished for three years that we had a kicker that could make a clutch field goal from distance with the game on the line, and we didn't get one of those until just now. So really, there's lots to be positive about.

But our CB play sure as hell isn't one of them.

Um...yeah...yeah you can.

Stretching the pocket only needs to happen when he has to. When pressure comes, Sims will do a great job at dodging it. He looked great yesterday.

But stretching the field is something that needs to be a consistent threat if we're gonna compete for a title. But no one is saying Sims can't do it, just that we need to see it.

So, with more experience, you think he is just going not gain anything? Hell, I think that a lot of his battle was nervousness and pressure to not screw up. With two cupcakes coming up, and the weight of his first big start off of his shoulders, I look for him to only get better.
