I'm not panicking, I'm certainly no guru and would never presume to be or question was CNS calls but does anyone think we would be more effective if we ran a 4-3 base defense more like LSU instead of a 3-4... I ask because I remember Saban's LSU championship team was a 4-3 and they were backfield TERRORS!! Plus LSU does a fantastic job with HUNH/Spread teams and that still appears to be our Achilles.

It doesn't matter...we were in Nickel/Dime most of the game.

Doesn't anyone know how often D'Shawn Hand played? Heard his named called a couple times the second half.

3-4 is designed for the pass, pressure is supposed to come from blitzes. Turnovers come from a lot of players in coverage. I still dont understand why people expect us to have a rush with 3 dt's and a jack linebacker led to set the edge.

3-4 is dont bend- break defense, when it is on it is great and looks unfathomable. When the other team plays fast and does not give us a chance to confuse them, they can with good skill position play, pick us apart. Without a rush you are going to have to have exceptional db and lb coverage to stop an offense. Even then the big danger is a good scrambling QB. You want us to blitz more? That leads to at least one big play a game. As the O eventually guesses right.

2011 was a great example of this, hardly ever gave up any yards except on big chunk plays. They were just good enough to limit those plays to 1-5 a game. Then turn around and make up for it with a turnover or limiting the drive to field goal.

The proof is there over the last several years. The talent required to keep up with this offensive upswing of late has exceeded just about every defense in college.
