Why even give them the chance, though, when so many officers have lost their lives being good guys?

while many have lost their lives and it is tragic, the job isn't as dangerous as most cops want people to believe. It is still dangerous but they knew that taking the job. They should be held to a higher standard because of training and the power that they have.

The public needs to be educated. If it were The Republic of SDAR I'd make it common knowledge that even trying to fight with a police officer is a death sentence.
This is america and it shouldn't be like that. The issue with this is the police could take any sign of resistance and turn it into a justified shooting. Should citizens attack a cop for no reason? of course not, but citizens shouldn't cower in fear and follow every order without a peep.

quote:

If you attacked a normal citizen like Brown attacked the police officer, no one would even bat an eye if he shot the guy...

this is true and nothing wrong with that. Im not saying citizens should attack cops I'm just saying cops shouldn't use lethal measures as quick as a ordinary citizen.

quote:

Guy with a knife starts walking toward police officers asking them to kill him? They could have tased him, shot him in the leg, etc. etc..

the ones saying he should be shot in the leg are dumb. The taser might have been an option but i haven't watched the vide. I believe if you are going to pull the trigger you go center mass or head shot.

I just believe that with the power cops hold and their training the cases of them killing a civilian need to be scrutinized more than citizen on citizen type shootings. FWIW not much of this post really has anything to do with the brown case since he was a criminal and got what was coming one way or the other.
