Lots of things. Two moments come to mind somewhat recently where a feeling of true happiness came over me.
Last January while hunting, just as I got settled in a shooting house, a doe with a buck following her(start of the rut) came out into the field. Buck was too small to shoot so I just watched them interact for a good 20 minutes. It was one of those clear winter days without a cloud in the sky, about 55 degrees, with a light breeze. I was in a remote part of the hunting club's land and all you could hear was the wind in the leaves and the birds chirping. I hope I painted a picture as pretty as it truly was. Also I was high on pain pills because I had just had some dental work done the day before.
In early March, we had one of those early spring days, also not a cloud in the sky, high around 75, but the lows at night were still dipping into the 30's and 40's. That Saturday night, the wife, kids, and I sat in the backyard around the firepit in the backyard listening to Willie Nelson, roasting marshmallows, and talking. We probbably sat out there for 3 hours without any bickering between the kids, which is a record for those 2. Great night, and completely spontaneous.
